WE CAME UP A LITTLE SHORT BUT I’M STILL A PROUD COACH

Well, our Babe Ruth season is officially over. Yesterday we stayed alive in the playoffs with a 13-5 win as my ace struck out 14 batters and walked but two. Today we went up against the best team in our league (record wise as they went 20-4) and lost a tough 5-2 decision. After the game you couldn’t tell the losing team from the winners which is the way it should be, as both teams sat down and had hot dogs and shared stories. The coaches of the other team had nothing but praise for my kids and myself and my coaches and I won’t lie it felt good. It seems the other coaches and parents in our league love the way we play. On offense we bunt for base hits steal bases and go first to third as well as anyone. On defense after a puzzling start, the practice time we put in working on cut offs and backing up the play sunk in and helped us in our late season run. But the biggest plus for our team was our pitchers practiced what I’ve been preaching since March THROW STRIKES!!!! Once they started doing that we got strikeouts and made plays in the field by pitching to contact and the wins kept coming.

We may not have won the league title but everyone from the umpires to the coaches and players to the parents hold my kids in high regard and that’s more than enough for me.

I don’t even want to dwell on the rest of the Tony B news or the way the Mets handled the Sheffield DL fiasco I’m in too good a mood for Mets negativity. The sun is shining and it’s warm out so I’m going to play Wiffle play in my yard with my kids. Baseball like it ought to be!!!!

After The Used Car Salesman ranted and raved about Manny Ramirez going to the bushes to get in shape before ending his 50 game sentence the Phillies after signing Petey to a $1.5 mil deal was placed on the 15 day DL with a “strained (wink-wink, nod-nod) shoulder. This was done because Petey wouldn’t sign a minor league deal so the Phills skirted the issue with the bogus DL placement. Am I a bitter jilted Mets fan? YES. Yes I am. I’m not rational when it comes with Petey going to the Cheesesteakers I’m the jilted lover who will now try to make his life miserable.

word out of Queens is Jose Reyes and Ryan Church have been relegated to the DL (finally!) and Fernando Martinez is in the ball park and the lineup hitting 6th and Wilson Vladez (yes THE Wilson Valdez) has been obtained from the Cleveland Indians for cash and will play short most likely tomorrow when he reports

Larry Jones needs to shut the fuck up, Beltran was safe at 3rd. Finally the Mets get a call in their favor from these inept umpires, and I don’t give a rats ass what Larry thinks of $iti Field and how he misses Shea what I’d like to see is a Mets pitcher nail him in the ribs with a fastball. I am so sick and tired of the fawning over of Larry Jones.

Can we just put Carlos Delgado on the DL already? what are the Mets waiting for? They’ve played three games now with a short bench, Delgado’s hip is still sore and won’t get better without rest. Please let’s not make him fly cross country and then DL him.

Great not only are the Mets wearing there miserable black unit tops but the Braves have decided to wear their Midnight Blue tops. Fucking stupid!

I guess Jose Reyes admitting that me made an awful base running blunder last night is progress.

Can’t kill J-Man on taking Big Pelf out in the 7th. He was in a zone and pitching great but the Mets have to be careful of over using him.

I don’t know what is higher on the douchebag meter the streaker or the asshole taking the video screaming “that’s my boy, that’s my boy” I will say nothing is as funny as over weight security guards risking a heart attack chasing a guy on the field

WORLD’S ARE COLLIDING HERE

As I was channel surfing last night I stumbled upon the US-PR WBC game on the MLB Network and I nearly passed out when I saw D-Wright sliding head first into home plate for Team America. I figured Wright, the Mets and Mets fans had dodged a bullet when Wright taking in knee to the head was ok but now here comes the separated shoulder and 6 months on the DL but Wright jumped up clapping his hands and was in fine shape. So relieved , I went back to Rangers-Canadians on MSG.

After a thrilling Rangers victory in a shootout of the Habs (and a jump to 6^th place in the East, I so want the Devils in the first round just to kick Fat Marty’s ass) I flip back over to the classic which is now in the 9^th inning just in time to see D-Wright take Fernando Cabrera’ slider that was down and away-a pretty good pitch-the other way (J-Man’s hitting drill comes thru again) for a well placed single to win the game for USA.

As happy as I was for Wright it was still a bit unnerving to see Derek Jeter and Jimmy Rollins grabbing Wright and hugging him during the celebration. I bet Jeter wishes his third baseman was hot like ours
