I hope I don’t lose my good standing with my fellow Mets fans after I tell you about my day today.

As I have told you guys, I am a big time Boston Celtic fan, since I was kid watching Celtics on the Game of the Week with Chris Schenkel and Jack Twyman on ABC. So when the C’s are in town I try to get to both the Garden and Meadowlands to catch them live (I watch every game on TV with the NBA Package as well) and I make it a point to get to the arena early because unlike any other sport, when you go to a basketball game you can get up close and personal with the players.

So as my son and I line up under the basket on the Celtics end of the arena (not where my seats were by the way, much to my son’s disappointment, we were in Section 420 where there were a lot of Celtic fans ) I got to say hi to Craig Dickerson of CSN-New England, who is the Kevin Burkhart of Celtic telecasts and I get a wave from Tommy Heinshon and Mike Gorman ( I wanted a Tommy Point by the way) so the day was off to a great start. I was wearing my Celtics t-shirt with RUSSELL 6 on the back because Bill Russell is not just the greatest basketball player and Celtic who ever lived, he is one the greatest figures in team sports but I digress, as Kevin Garnett came on the court I shout out to KG and pound my chest right at my heart and point to him and KG returns the gesture and I’m beaming like I just got asked to the prom. My son, as he usually gets when I engage in a PDA over a sports figure, takes a few steps back and mutters “That’s enough fanboy” .

So now as I basked in my bromance with KG and the C’s, I hear a commotion coming from my right close to the where I’m standing. A big cheer goes up and when I turn to my right, standing next to me is Joe Girardi the manager of the New York Highlanders. So what do I do? What would you do?

We both looked at each other and all I could do was put out my right hand and say “Hiya Joe” and shake his hand. Then my son did the same thing. I did feel kind of funny I mean what’s the odds of me, my kid and Joe Girardi standing side by side at MSG? Nice man that Joe G.

Right after that Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg stood next to me as they were at the game filming a scene for a movie they’re doing (the same on that Derek Jeter played a homeless guy in) and my son said “Dad look it ‘s Will Ferrell” and I said “whose the fanboy now”? I didn’t shake Ferrell’s or Wahlberg’s hand as I couldn’t care less about those two, they don’t hit game winning baskets in OT to beat the Knicks like my guy KG!

Observations of Game 2 of the World Series from a conscientious objector:

Patients at the plate is a good thing but there comes a time when you have to change your approach. Last night the Phuck Phaces stayed a bit too passive as Pie Man was throwing first pitch strikes to just about every batter. When you see by the third inning that Burnett was on his game, it’s was up to the Phillie hitters to go up and attack that first pitch.

I should feel good for Petey and his performance last night but the spurned Mets fan in me is having a hard time doing that. What was Charlie Manuel thinking (or not thinking) when he let Petey go out for the 7th inning. Hasn’t he heard of Grady Little? You’d think Manuel would take the 6 strong innings for Petey and call it a day but it just goes to show Manuel, like Joe Girardi has no confidence in his bullpen.

Speaking of Manuel and Joey G, have there ever been two diverse personalities running clubs in a World Series? Ol’ Cholly, acts like he’s on a fishing trip in the Ozarks on the bench, shucking and jiving with old Mets coach Sam Perlazzo and giving his Bazooka gum a work out. Girardi on the other hand is tighter than a crab’s ass on the bench, he makes Buck Showalter look like Spicolli.

“You know you’re a douchebag when”…………….Your team is tied 1-1 in the World Series and you write a blog and the best post you can come up with the day after a game is this.

I can not believe no one is killing El Capitano for his mind numbing at bat in the 7th inning. I can see attempting to bunt on the first pitch but after that…are you kidding me?

Am I losing what’s left of my small mind but are Buck and McCaver actually doing a good job on the World Series telecast? As you see I have called them by their proper name instead of my nicknames for them (Doofus Joe and McFullofshit for you newbies) Buck has not subjected us to his forced hipster bullshit so far and McCarver has summoned his inner mid 1980’s when he was the Mets lead analyst with Ralph Kiner and long forgotten Steve (but down the Peroxide) Zabriski. Back in the day, McCarver was a analyst on any baseball telecast but then for some reason he became crotchety and so insufferable, the Mets dumped him. He seems no longer angry or is he messing up names and (I can’t believe I’m writing this) is really on his game so far. OH GOD I NEED TO LIE DOWN!!!!

Now that pre game show…………ughhhhhhhhhh what a disaster.

METS NEWS!!!!!

The Mets have made some moves that have fallen under the World Series radar the last few days that begs the question, Just why are Omar Minaya and Jerry Manuel coming back next year? As per Adam Rubin, the Mets have assigned the Bingo managers job to Tim (Shuffle) Tuffle and the St. Lonesome job to The People’s Cherce, Wally Backman. Ownership has also talked Sandy Johnson out of retiring and they are looking at hiring Bob Melvin to be Manuel replacement bench coach. That goes along with the hiring of Chip Hale as the new third base coach. Lame ducks? Shit, sititn’ ducks is more like it when it comes to Omar and Jerry.

The Orioles have given Melvin Mora his release. Even the 37 yr old Mora would be an improvement over Luis Castillo at 2nd base. Not my first choice but Mora would be in the mix.

Could this be? Could this be the one saving grace for Mets fans this baseball season to forget? When people ask me you I’m rooting for this post season I now have a definitive answer, I’m rooting for Joe Girardi and baseball defying moves. Down the stretch of the season the formula was Chamberlain, Hughes and Mariano, so with his Highlanders on the brink of a great comeback win and berth in the World Series, Joey G decides to stay with Pie Face Burnett who sat for over 30 minutes while the Highlanders made their comeback. So now the Angels have life and the series comes back to NYC. Could it happen? Maybe the angels will intervene for the Angels.

OK count me in on the Bring John Lackey To The Mets club. If 5yr/$80-85 mil gets him here to be it.

$20 bucks a month for NEWSDAY online? Who the hell is running the show over there, Jimmy Dolan? What a MA-ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

Matt Pignataro of Seven Train to Shea says Josh Johnson could be on the block in So Florida. If the Mets could pry Johnson from Miami and sign Lackey to go with Johan, well I’d let Jeffey Skill Set ride on the Mets Bloggers float at the parade.

Another chapter of my childhood is closed with the word today of the death of Soupy Sales. For you youngins’ Sales had a kids afternoon show on Ch 5 here in NY that feature comedy, puppets and cartoons that was goofy enough to keep kids entertained and over the top enough for adults to laugh at as well. Now I got to go, I need to find my 45 of Do The Mouse!.

Geez, what a morning. As the well rounded person that I am, I do socialize with Highlander fans and some are even close friends, so this morning my phone has been ringing a lot and my usual quiet ferry ride to Manhattan was disturbed by irate Highlander fans who hate their managers’ guts.

I was under the assumption that the manager of the Highlanders was named “Joe” Girardi but my Highlander buddies keep calling him “Fuckin’” Girardi, oh well. I’m just a sounding board for these folks, the same ones who find pleasure in breaking my balls as the Mets let season after season go down the drain. But in time of Highlander misery they reach out to me because they know they can’t help each other as Highlander fans are incapable of compassion and understanding but know Mets fans are the salt of the earth of baseball fans.

Do I turn my back on these fine folks? Of course not, it goes against my Mets fan nature and besides some of these fine Highlander fan folk are very handy with hammers and know how to run electrical wires, two things I’m clueless about, so as payment for my time, I will get two light fixtures installed in my home.

I tell them how right they are that the Highlanders are facing three opponents, the Angels, the umpires and Joe “Fuckin’” Girardi. Then after they vent, I soothe them with gushing praise for Jeter and Mariano and talk about Alex Rodriguez’ becoming “clutch”,the more I say A-Rod’s clutch, the weeping subsides. I then go on about the Big Stallion, CC Sabathia going today (I don’t mention the 3 days rest because I don’t want the boo-hooing starting up again) and then I go to the tough love mode as I shout to them “COM’ON YOU’RE THE HIGHLANDERS GOD DAMNIT, YOU WILL RISE ABOVE THIS AND WIN THE SERIES” and off they go, happy and confident and appreciative of their Mets fan buddy’s support. What they don’t know is, I’m downloading pictures of Howie Kendrick to hang up on my cubicle wall.

Speaking of Highlander fans, Lisa Swan, the Highlander half of Subway Squawkers included yours truly in a piece she wrote for The Faster Times asking Mets bloggers about our thoughts on a Highlander-Phuck Phace World Series. I thank Lisa for including me in this piece.

Mike Silva writes about Scott Boras talking Texieria money for Matt Holliday. Here’s a surprise, Holliday would love to play for either NY team but leans more Highlander than Mets. What a shock (eyeroll) here’s a little advice for Mr. Holliday, you see how those fine folks in St Lou reacted to you misplaying that fly ball ? That doesn’t happen here. If you were a Met, it would be more you wearing sirloin underwear and we’re a bunch of starving Rottweilers. Do yourself a favor Matt, stay in the Midwest.

Rick Peterson is being fitted for a new Jacket with the Brew Crew. Good luck Rick and good luck Brewski fans with your Rick Peterson Decoder Rings.

Someone at Stub Hub is going to rot in hell for eternity, and rightfully so.

Jayson Stark had to have typed this story on last night Phuck Phace-Hollywood Bums game with his nose, as his hands were busy doing something else. Pull your pants up Jayson.

It’s hit and miss today so fasten your seat belts:

Forget instant replay, what baseball needs is on the spot drug and alcohol testing for umpires. Phil Cuzi, here is a sword now fall on it. Forget PEDs, and teams with small revenue, what will kill baseball is the employment of incompetents to officiate games. Phil Cuzi, Cowboy Joe Jerk Off West, CB Bucknor, Angel Hernandez just to name four, are so bad at there jobs the only position the are qualified for is New York State Senator or as a play by play man for TBS. The Used Car Salesman needs to show some balls after this post season and start firing these embarrassments. Let them file a grievance and let them sue you, fuck ‘em .

David Lennon wonders, “should the Mets look to sign Hideki Matsui this off season.” I say FUCK NO!!!! and David stop putting out such ridiculous comments because the assholes who run the Mets might take this seriously.

Joe Nathan was tighter than Joan Rivers face last night in the Bronx. 3-1 lead in the 9th you got to close the deal Joe you’ve got to close the deal. Poor old Gardy, watching him I that dugout last night was painful. The Twins season comes down to Carl Pavano. Would any Twins fan like to borrow my Mr.Met puke bucket ?

If the Highlanders should would have lost last night, the story of the day would have been G I Joe Girardi and his bullpen follies. Girardi bullpen moves make St Joseph of Torre look like Miller Huggins. No wonder Jorge hates his guts.

Alex Rodriguez gives thanks to his new batting coach Kate Hudson for helping him get his stroke back to bang ‘em out of the park.

Bring back Cliff Floyd to Flushing as a coach? I’m all for it. In fact it would be a brilliant move, so don’t expect it to happen.

That concludes he baseball part of our program. We will now move to the political part and I know some of you hate when I do this and that’s why (a) I’m giving a warning and (b) I’m so full of piss and vinegar today I really don’t give a flyin’ fuck, so here we go and most of you already know where this is going.

President Barrack Obama was awarded the Noble Peace Prize yesterday and instead of the nation coming together and giving OUR President congrats and being proud that the world is seeing that the United States has made the right choice in its leadership, some of our fellow citizens are outraged by his getting this award. I’m more saddened by this than outraged. If you want to debate whether in his short tenure as President ,Obama deserves the award, you could have a debate. What the right wing zealots of this country can not get through their very thick skulls is the fact the world sees an Obama administration as hope and looked at George Bush as a dope. What is even scarier is the conservative fringe listens to a junkie like Rush Limbaugh (good luck trying to buy the St Louis Rams Rush and fielding an all white NFL team) and two awful entertainers like Hannity and Glenn Beck. The righties can’t see through those two as their conservatism is for profit only not ideology

So congratulation President Obama on winning such a prestigious award, thank you for trying make this country better and God bless you and your family and God Bless the Untied States of America, we sure need it.

Ok now flame away!
