The Mets wrapped up a fine weekend in Baltimore with a three game sweep in front of a friendly crowd of Mets fans who made the trip down I-95 to Camden Yards, I’d love to get on the Orioles but I feel for ex-Met Juan Samuel and recently axed manager Dave Trembley because my youth baseball team is having an Oriole-like season so I just want to say misery lovers company fellas’

It’s games like today that show the huge step that Big Pelf has made this season. Last yer he would have fell apart as his command was off and he just did not look very comfortable on the mound but Pelfrey proved how important the mental side of pitching is. There are days when your physical tools are on auto-pilot and then there are days like to day where you physically misfire but you have enough savvy to make adjustments and keep yourself and your team afloat. Sure we all love those 3 hit 10K shutouts but sometimes watching a guy keep his team in a game on brains is a real museum piece as well.

I’m usually not one to vote for the All-Star Game but after the surge that David Wright is on I feel it’s my duty as a Mets fan to stuff the ballot box. David Wright deserves to be the starting 3^rd baseman for the National League in Anaheim.

It’s time to tell Jason Bay and Bengi Molina we’re not interested. Call both their bluffs in fact just tell Bay’s agent “sorry we’ve had second thoughts” then call Molina’s guy and Rod Barajas guy and the first one to say yes to a 2yr incentive laden deal gets that deal.

The reason I’m ready to “Bay-O, Bayyyyyyyyyyyy-O we’ve got no deal so you gotta go home”, is I want the Mets to sign Johnny Damon to play LF in 2010 and 2011

Now I’m not saying that Damon is better than Bay, he’s not, but the drop off is not so fierce that you could get Damon for half the money you’d spend on Bay and with less commitment. Then of course there is the all important intangibles. Damon is a dynamic presences in the clubhouse, he has dissed publicly by the Highlanders so you know he is going to come to camp ready to make a big statement, and he wears two world championship rings from two of the highest profile team sin sports. Not to mention the good will you would build up with Scott Boras for making his client look good after he (Boras) dropped the ball with the Highlander negotiations.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the last team Jason Bay wants to be a part of is the New York Mets. There is no mystery team, there is no competition for his services, now would be the time to tell Bay and his agent we’re going in another direction and announce the signing of Johnny Damon to a 2yr/18 mil deal with incentives to get the money over $20 mil. Damon is a winner and those types of players are in short supply I Queens.

The announced attendance at Camden Yards last night was 20, 626 but it looked as if there were maybe 15,000 ass’ in seats and of those 15K half were Mets fans.  Inter league play has reached it’s expiration date let it die a natural death.

 

Joel Sherman is 1000 % right that when you compare former Highlander and all around piece of shit Mel Hall being convicted of sexually assaulting a 12 yr old girl and Sammy Sosa’ name coming out on a list of positive test for steroids  it’s incredible there is more angst toward Sosa that a child molester. People need to get a grip.

Can we just release this fucking list of the dopers and get all the hand wringing and chest banging out of the way? Yes we know the era of the mid 90’s to 2003 will be known as the Steroid era and we all know the moralists out there who have never ever done anything to gain an edge on an opponent or co-worker are all up in arms. I know I’m supposed to get all hot and bother by players “cheating” (I still can’t figure that one out) but I’m not so can get move the fuck on already.

Ben Shpiel spoke with J-Man on the one year anniversary of Willie Randolph and the 3 AM Rub Out and Manuel taking over the Mets.  I like Warlord Jerry but he does some things that irks me like talking out his ass when it comes to Murphy and Church and the fact that this team is fundamentally retard when it comes to playing baseball is his responsibility and he never takes it, I like the job he has done so far in his year as skipper but I feel that anything short of an NL Pennant he will be relieved of his duties as I can see the wheels in motion for Bobby V the Sequel in 2010.
