I would love to work for Jerry Manuel. No matter how much you fuck up, the guy never gets angry. I mean if I were the manager of the Mets, after the Dan Uggla home run in the 3rd inning I’d have gone down to the clubhouse, taken out my cell phone and called Omar Minaya and let him know either you release, waive or trade Ollie Perez or I’m going to keep trotting his sorry ass out there every fifth day and I’d let the media and the fans know that any questions you have about Perez go see Omar or Jeffey.  How much patting on the ass can you do with this guy? Enough! Call Scott Boras, try to work out something to pay Perez off and end this.  And you want to know why the Mets get no respect around baseball. Same thing when Charley Manuel called out the Mets as sign stealers when the Rockies called out the Phillies for that offense, Jerry Manuel just laughs instead of  sticking up for his team and going off on that inbred hillbilly fuck. The Mets as a franchise love to get kicked in the ass but never kick back and you want to know why no one is showing up at $iti Field.

Maybe instead of looking to buy a sucky hockey team, the Skill Sets should make an investment in ridding themselves of Oliver Perez.  By the way, can Gary Cohen put the violin down for Ollie, I don’t feel sorry for him, the guy is set for life financially and he has his health, he can’t pitch anymore he’s done good bye.

The longer they keep Perez around the closer the Mets get to deflating this team. I still say with the way the NL is the Mets can still contend for a post season spot but they need some leadership from management. Show the fans and your players you’re serious about competing and cut Perez, if you have to pay off the whole contract then do it. Sure it’s not my money but if Jeffey Skill Sets is crowing about buying the Icelanders and building an arena then you have cash that Bernie Madoff didn’t steal from you. Put that money to good use and buy out Ollie Perez. Maybe if ownership showed they give a flyin’ fuck about this team they wouldn’t be playing to 30,000 empty seats at $iti Field.

I’m sure when the players see it’s Perez’ turn to pitch they know that have no chance of winning that game. Perez is sucking the life out of this team and sending a message that all the talk about committing to winning by the Skill Sets is just a bunch of bullshit . You want to show a commitment then dump Ollie and quite frankly it may be time to dump the manager as well. I don’t hate Jerry Manuel and it’s not all his fault this team is inconsistent or his offense is stagnant but maybe a shakeup in the managers office is needed both for Manuel and the Mets. Its’ tough to manage knowing your on a week to week watch. I might be time to just get the inevitable over with.

Mets ownership takes us for jerks but the truth is we are much smarter than they are. Show you care and we will too.

 

 

It’s gone beyond getting aggravated about the way the Mets are going about their non-business so far this off season. I am getting a kick out of Mets fans and non-Mets fans trying to figure out what moves the Mets are ready to make. Well, if you know the Mets next move, then could you please make a call to (718) 507-METS and ask for Omar and tell him the move because it seems to me he’s out of idea’s.

 

The new bit of pretzel logical coming out of Queens is if the team can’t sign Jason Bay then they will up the offer they’ve made to Bengi Molina. If they can’t sign Molina then they will up their offer to Bay. Go ahead digest that little nugget for a minute I’ll wait……..Hummm so what should I have for lunch? I really could go for a slice but West Broadway is a mess….soup? Yeah, it’s a good soup day how about a minestrone and an toasted everything bagel? Yeah soup and bagel it is Oh shit…..I’m sorry….back to Omar Economics………

 

Here’s an astute observation by yours truly, The Mets have no plan! Omar is powerless he is under the iron fist of Baby Doc Jeffey Skill Sets and the Minister of Mets Miss Information, DiamondVison Dave Howard. Those two, my friends, are the faces of your franchise. The faces I’d love to smash my fist into.

 

Bay, Molina, Molina, Bay, the Mets act like these two are the missing links to competitiveness (we all agree that the Mets are not contenders right? RIGHT????) meanwhile there are about FOUR spots in the starting pitching rotation that needs addressing but I guess there is still plenty of time to fuck that up this winter.

 

 

Happy Brithday to the greatest player ever to wear a Mets uniform. Tom Seaver turns 65 years old today.

To make matters worse my son and four other boys from our troop spent the night in the woods about 5 miles from our camp to fullfill thier wilderness survival reqs for a merit badge. The boys go into the woods for a night with just a sleeping bag, knife, water, mat, and two hot dogs and an apple. When they returned to camp this moring around 6 AM my son informed me that he saw a bear near their shelter but he was scared off by the noise.

With all that I’m ready to go home and get some concrete under my feet by the way Jerry Manuel needs to play Daniel Murphy every day and Omar needs to give Livan Hernandez his release, and Jeffey and Freddie Skill Sets need to come out hiding and speak to the fan base on how they are going to get this franchise back on track not for this season but for 2010 and beyond.

Time for everyone in the Mets organization to man up and realize this season is done and work on dealing off guys like Ryan Church, Garry Sheffield, Brian Schineder  and Fernando Tatis to name four.

It would be nice if someone in the Mets organization had the guts of a 13 year old Boy Scout

 

Of all people The Old Grumpy Man has a positive piece on Gary Sheffield joining the Mets.

 

Darren O’Day had a very tough day dealing with the death of Nick Adenhart. The LA Times also chronicles the long list of tragedies that have struck the Angels franchise.

 

You have got to go to the Gary, Keith and Ron site and purchase the new Ralph Kiner shirt. This t-shirt should be standard uniform for all Mets fans it’s absolutely stunning.

I don’t give a rats ass about the numbers and Hall of Fame credentials Pepsodent smile and all that, my favorite Mets catcher of all time is was and may forever be Jerry Grote. Not even close. Go ahead flame my ass about this I don’t give a fuck you hear me all you Piazza and Carter fans.  My guy Grote was the original Captain Red Ass.  Nobody fired a ball back to a pitcher (including The Franchise) with purpose like Grote did.  Add in the fact that he wore a wool baseballall cap with the bill turned up (no protective helmet for him) that my young whipper snappers readers was a man’s catcher.

So why the “Get off my lawn” diatribe you wonder? Well the good folks at The Hardball Time have an outstanding post on the comparison between Mike Piazza, Pudge Rodriguez and <head bowed> Johnny Bench that fired my middle aged ass up this morning

For all my love of Grote I also have a deep respect and admiration for JB. In fact last time I was up in Cooperstown I bought a Reds t-shirt with BENCH 5 on the back. Check out the posting as it breaks down all three’s offensive and defensive numbers
